Google has issued a warning to millions of users about the internet shutdown in July. Last month we reported that users might lose the ability to use the internet on July 9thdue to a malware. The problem began in late 2011, when the international hackers spread an online advertising scam. This was to gain control over the infected computers across the world.
The FBI created a safety net months before using the government computers. This was a step to prevent the loss of internet. The system will be shut down on July 9th and it will kill the connections to the infected computers.
The FBI campaign has been created months ago. This encourages people to visit the website they have introduced and check if their system is infected by the destructive malware. If the computer is found infected, the website explains the steps to remove the infection and fix the issue. After July 9th, the infected users will not be able to connect to the internet.
Google seems to create awareness regarding this issue. The search engine giant will start rolling out alerts to the users through a special message at the top of the search results page. The post on the official blog of Google states that directly conveying the message to the affected users through a trusted site will ensure better results.
There is a possibility that more devices are cleaned and protected from the loss of internet. The great challenge and the requirement for the awareness campaign is that most of the victims do not know that their computers are infected. They might have experienced slow web surfing and disabled anti-virus software, but they do not know that it due to the malware in their machines.via[allabouttech]
