Xerox Mobile Scanner

The Xerox Mobile Scanner is the first battery-powered scanner that uses Wi-Fi to wirelessly transmit JPG images and multipage PDF files from the scanner to computers, mobile phones, tablets, and online services. Using a free mobile app, the device is able to communicate wirelessly to a PC, Android device, Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or the Cloud.
The Xerox Mobile Scanner is a small (2 by 2.75 by 11.5 inches) color scanner that includes a 4GB Eye-Fi SD memory card, carrying case, rechargeable battery, and charger. The scanner is simple to use; you just press the power button, select a file format (PDF or JPG), and insert the document. The scanner’s patented AutoLaunch technology senses the page and begins scanning. According to Xerox, a full page takes less than 10 seconds to scan and you can scan 300 pages before needing to recharge the battery.
"The Mobile Scanner provides a quick, convenient way to scan and share documents when you’re on the go," said John Capurso, vice president of marketing at Visioneer, a Xerox licensing partner. "Untethering the scanner and adding WiFi reflects Xerox’s drive to make life easier for the mobile worker."
The maker of the world’s first wireless memory card, Eye-Fi, was a collaborative partner in the development of the Xerox Mobile Scanner. Eye-Fi’s patented and patent pending technology works with Wi-Fi networks to automatically send photos from a digital camera to Web-based, home, and retail destinations. "The Xerox Mobile Scanner is the perfect capture device to work with our technology," said Ziv Gillat, vice president of business development at Eye-Fi, Inc. "We loved the idea and immediately knew that we were helping to design the future of mobile capture device."
If you are away from your networks, simply set up Direct Mode. Scan photos or documents wherever you are—then when you’re ready to transfer, just turn your scanner on and let Eye-Fi do the rest. The Eye-Fi card will create its own Wi-Fi network and transfer to the free iPhone/iPad or Android app. Then use your device’s data connection (Wi-Fi, 3G or Edge) to share your content on-the-go— there are 25 sites from which to choose. And if you prefer getting backed up and organized, you can automatically send those files to your computer at home.
The Xerox Mobile Scanner has a list price of $249.99, and is available immediately through retail and online channel partners, major resellers, and Xerox and its agents and dealers.Via PCmag.
