Low cost Tablet (TabPlus Rio) launched in India for Rs-11,990/-

A new low-cost tablet in India, called the TabPlus Rio,priced at INR- Rs. 11,990 is launched by Digital Waves, a Bengaluru- based IT company. This TabPlus Rio tablet runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform.


The TabPlus Rio tablet is powered by a 1GHz Cortex A9 processor and features 512MB of DDR2  RAM. It has 7 inch screen with storage up to 32GB via Micro SD.

Other features include an 800×480 pixel resolution display, 4GB of built-in storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD card, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g connectivity, 3G connectivity via USB dongle (only on select models), microUSB port, USB port, HDMI-out, front-facing camera, and a 3,000 mAh battery.


The set of features claim to offer web browsing with flash support, swifter multi-tasking, 3G via USB dongle (on select models, sold separately), wireless internet connectivity, Video Chat on Skype and HD video play back. It has a 3.5mm jack, along with built-in mic and speaker, and also USB and HDMI ports.


The TabPlus Rio also bears a 4-side G-Sensor, for gaming. It weighs 350 grams and measures 203x120x13mm and gives access to more than 300,000 applications. The TabPlus Rio will ship free across India, and comes with a  one-year warranty.


Recently, Mercury’s next iteration of tablet, the mTab 2, was introduced at a similar price.


In the recent years, India’s tablet market has witnessed increasing competition, with several local manufacturers rolling out devices at affordable rates.


According to the Manufacturer’s Association of IT Industry, the industry expects to sell around 3 lakh tablets in the current financial year.
