Apple iPhone 5 vs. Samsung Galaxy S3: Fierce Smartphone Battle Ahead

The battle between Apple Inc. and Samsung is expected to get fierce as both the smartphone makers are prepared to release their best ones in the market this year.

Samsung is expected to extend their flagship version of Galaxy S2 to Galaxy S3 while Apple is expected to draw out iPhone 5 out of their weaponry. Samsung has already drawn a bigger margin with its latest Android flagship collaboration with Google Inc., the Galaxy Nexus.
Meanwhile, speculations are abuzz with the announcement of Samsung Galaxy S3 to take place during Mobile World Congress Feb 28. On the other hand, Apple is rumored to release its iPhone 5 in the second half of the year
Here is a rumored comparison of Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5.
Display: Samsung Galaxy S3 is expected to spot 4.6-inch HD 1280 x 720 pixels Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen 319 ppi pixel density. On the other hand, iPhone 5 is rumored to sport 3.7 to 4.0 inches Quantum Dot LED curved glass edge-to-edge display.
Input Features: The input features which might accompany Galaxy S3 include touch-sensitive controls, Corning Gorilla Glass, TouchWiz UI v4.0 or Touchwiz 5.0, accelerometer, gyro and proximity sensor. And iPhone 5 will feature like scratch-resistant glass, aluminum plate casing, oleophobic coating, accelerometer, gyro and proximity sensor.
Processor: When it comes to processor, Samsung Galaxy S3 may feature a quad-core, Exynos 4212/ Exyos 5250, 2 GHz/ 1.8 GHz processor with 2GB RAM. As the name quad-core suggests, the processor has four cores over two but not in exile. Chip manufacturer Qualcomm has confirmed the availability of quad-core processors.
However, iPhone 5 is predicted to integrate a fast 1.2-to-1.5 GHz quad-core A6 chip, with probably 1GB or more of RAM.
Operating System: With Samsung Galaxy Nexus already featuring the Android 4.0 or the Ice Cream Sandwich, Galaxy S3 is expected to be embedded with same operating system. There has been speculation that Apple would bring out its next OS, presumably called iOS 6, at the WWDC in June 2012 followed by iPhone 5.
Memory: Samsung Galaxy S3 will have 16/32GB storage and an external microSD card support that could be expandable up to 32GB. On the other hand, iPhone 5 is expected to come with 16/32/64 GB with external microSD card support.
Camera: Samsung Galaxy S3 may feature a 12 megapixel 4000x3000 pixels camera along with features like autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection and image stabilization features. And 1080p video recording is expected along with a 2 megapixel secondary camera.
On the other side, iPhone 5 will come with a 12 megapixel or more dual-LED flash camera with flash unit to be separated from the camera sensor. Along with the rear-facing, rumors suggest that iPhone 5 will have a 2 megapixel front-facing camera for video chatting. Another rumor indicated that iPhone 5 will have a 3D camera.
4G LTE and NFC: Both the smartphones are expected to adorn with 4G LTE support and NFC.
Battery: According to rumors and leaked resources, Galaxy S3 is expected to feature a 2250mAh battery. On the other hand, iPhone 5 is anticipated to have a better battery when compared to the Li-Po 1420 mAh battery in iPhone 4S that gets up to 8 hours of talk time on 3G and up to 14 hours on 2G (GSM).
Wireless Charging: A revolutionary way of charging mobile devices may see iPhone 5 and Galaxy S3 gain mass appeal. The inductive wireless charging technology for the devices could juice up its battery without the use of cables or plugs. By utilizing a charging dock, the devices could charge its battery as well as share, sync or back up data at the same time.
